The Wicked Festival 2021: Identity

The Wicked Festival will be a celebration of Spoken Word Art, showcasing its diversity and potential as an artistic and political form of communication and intervention. The festival will take place in Berlin on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of October, 2021. The goals of the festival will be to establish and develop inter-community links and exchanges between like-minded community members from across Europe who are engaged in promoting Spoken Word Art; through various workshops and activities, to provide a platform for the possibilities and range that Spoken Word Art offers; and, to showcase the talent of the finalists from 10 individual heats run across Europe.

The theme of the festival this year is Identity. We find this pertinent and appropriate, as it acknowledges the immediacy and necessity to reflect upon, address and redress the both individual challenges to identity, as well as attend to the social tapestry that forms and weighs upon identity.

In addition to the Superheroes of Slam final, the festival will also feature a host of free satellite events, including: panel discussions, spoken word workshops, discussion forums, poetry booths, event management seminars, a spoken word movie premiere, open mics, comedy events, and much more. All satellite events are free, however you need to reserve a seat in advance: just email wicked WickedProjects2017@gmail.com
